Recordings: a small music-listening model (Basic Pitch, open source from Spotify) runs inside this page and writes down the notes it hears. It works best with one clear piano. A full song with singing, drums and other instruments gives a busier result with some wrong notes, because the model writes down everything it hears.
MIDI files already contain exact notes, so they are shown as they are.
Demo is a built-in example tune, always labelled Demo. It is never used in place of your file.
Recording: Record uses the microphone for up to a minute, then finds the notes the same way as a chosen file. The sound is only kept in memory while you use it.
